Cytokine ELISA Assays
In cooperation with US universities in Texas and other states, as well as
research institutions around the world, BIOO scientists are engaged in research
aimed at improving methods for cytokine detection and quantitation. Our goal is
to produce test kits for reliable, accurate, and highly reproducible detection
of cytokines in samples such as serum, plasma, tissue homogenate, and cell
culture supernatant. These cytokine diagnostic assays are appropriate for both
preclinical and basic research settings.
Cytokines are a diverse group of small proteins or polypeptides responsible for
cell signaling that are found in higher organisms such as human, mouse, and rat.
They share many characteristics with hormones and neurotransmitters, providing a
means for cells to communicate over short, intermediate, and long distances via
cell-surface receptor molecules. Historically cytokines have been distinguished
from other types of cell signaling molecules based on their function as
regulators of the immune system; however, as new cytokines are identified, this
means of classification has broken down. In general, cytokines exert their
effects on, and are produced in, a wider range of cell types than either
hormones or neuroransmitters.
Cytokines are particularly important in both innate and adaptive immune
responses and are involved in many immunological, inflammatory, and infectious
diseases. Numerous reports in the scientific literature indicate that cytokines
play a pivitol role in developmental processes as diverse as embryogenesis,
tumorigenesis, angiogenesis, apoptosis, and others.
Bioo Scientific offers a complete line of MaxSignalTM Cytokine ELISA
Test Kits.
The product descriptions for each assay contain detailed information about the
cytokine detected.
